About Dr Sean Moodley

Meet dr sean moodley

There are many routes to becoming a plastic surgeon, and Dr Sean Moodley has undertaken the most thorough and demanding training process: qualifying in both general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Growing up, through to high school, art has been a great love and passion. Whilst I was doing research for a painting on Mother Theresa I came to realise what an impact you can make on people’s lives through medicine and medical care.

I became inspired by her work to study medicine and I moved to Cape Town, where I obtained my undergraduate medical degree from the University of Cape Town.

Afterwards, I spent 5 years in the Eastern Cape, doing community service, where I was privileged to have had the exposure to surgery and be taught by experienced surgeons. The foundation for my further career as a surgeon was laid here.

I returned to Cape Town in 2004 and qualified as a general surgeon at the University of Cape Town in 2008.

After a brief spell working as a consultant general surgeon my true calling emerged and I entered into a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program at the University of Cape Town in 2009.

I became a fully qualified and Board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in 2013.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery allows me to combine my two greatest passions : surgery and art.

The early phase of my career as a plastic surgeon included mainly academic involvement at Groote Schuur Hospital and the Red Cross Children’s Hospital with the emphasis on reconstructive surgery.

Teaching the art of plastic surgery to junior trainees at Groote Schuur is something I currently combine with my private practice and that I love greatly.

At present my main focus is on cosmetic surgery, with my biggest areas of interest: facial and neck rejuvenation, breast surgery, body contouring. Years of practice have taught me beauty is also carried from within. I therefore advocate for a holistic approach of the general wellbeing of a person and I have become increasingly involved in regenerative medicine, specifically stem cell therapy and all its treatment options.

mission and aesthetic philosophy

Dr Sean Moodley Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Sean Moodley’s practice stands out because of the personalised treatment plan he creates for each patient, based on a thorough and meticulous assessment of the patient. He believes in a holistic approach, where beauty and health go hand in hand, using innovative, ground breaking research based techniques and treatments such as IV therapy, stem cell therapy and the latest surgical techniques. Furthermore he considers pre-operative planning and post-operative care as important as the actual procedure and he will guide the patient throughout their journey to wellbeing.
“I am driven to produce works of excellence and to improve the general wellbeing of my patients through the use of innovative techniques within a holistic framework.” – Dr. Sean Moodley

Dr. Sean Moodley favours a transparent and informative doctor – patient dialogue

I believe that the best aesthetic outcomes are achieved through carefully considering the patient’s request together with my professional expertise.  I will only undertake a procedure that is safe and aesthetically desirable. I want my patients to be completely informed before making the decision on a treatment plan. I will only promote a treatment plan if it will enhance the aesthetics and wellbeing of my patients.

Dr. Sean Moodley is fully committed to patient care

Before any surgery, I need to understand the full medical and surgical background of my patients. Any serious medical condition will have to be first addressed and deemed safe before proceeding with cosmetic surgery.

The greatest care by our nursing staff and the top quality overnight facility ensures a smooth and safe post-operative recovery course for my patients.

All equipment and materials that I use are of the highest quality which contributes to achieving excellent results.
