A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a facial surgery procedure designed to help people reduce the visible signs of ageing in the face and neck.
By reconstructing your facial features through muscle tightening, fat removal and trimming of excess skin, you will obtain a younger appearance. While facial surgeries are not designed to stop the ageing process altogether, they can turn back the clock by as much as five to 15 years.
Activities such as smoking, sunbathing, outdoor activities, and stress can alter the appearance of the face. In addition, as we age, deep creases may form between the nose and mouth, the jawline may grow slack and sag, and folds and fat deposits may appear around the neck.
A facelift is best for patients who are otherwise in good health, without active diseases or serious, pre-existing medical conditions. Typically facelifts are performed on patients who are between 40 to 70 years old. If you have strong, well-defined bone structure and some skin elasticity, you are most likely to have good results from a facelift.
Depending on the needs of the patient Dr Moodley will recommend a mid-facelift or a full facelift in conjunction with other procedures such as a brow lift, blepharoplasty and neck lift or other non-surgical procedures such as fat transfer, dermal fillers or Botox.
Dr Moodley always strives to obtain a youthful yet natural look. The face is a vibrant part of our being and therefore must remain flexible and natural-looking.
